When a shocking Crohn’s Disease diagnosis threatened to overturn my life, I knew I had to change my entire lifestyle. I wasn’t what you’d call an unhealthy person - in fact to some I was the picture of health: thin, athletic, smart.
But I learned very quickly that being thin does not even remotely mean you’re a healthy person. My gut was suffering, I almost lost my intestines, and couldn’t work for almost a year. It took a long time to get back on my feet.
While I was recovering, out of necessity, I began a health counseling program. I started with the sole purpose of re-learning how to care for my body. I had big dreams and aspirations (still do), but I was learning I needed to be healthy to achieve them.
This was my first a-ha moment.
Thus, The Lovely Digest was born in an effort to share my findings and actionable tips with others. In the beginning, I felt like becoming healthy and completely revolutionizing the way I lived was going to be this huge daunting thing. When in fact, it just takes small, simple action steps over time. You can rush the process, but it won’t stick.
